How do I get to TVBC?

What can I expect on my first visit to TVBC?
Our church buildings are visible immediately from the main road. Near the top of the hill you will see two buildings that host most of the youth Sunday school classes as well as our Wednesday night prayer meeting. At the bottom of the hill is the main sanctuary. When you enter the main sanctuary, you will be greeted by our ushers who can also answer any questions you may have about the service and help you find a seat. Once the service has started, you will enjoy a few songs by our great adult choir as well as some special music. Pastor John Smith will welcome everyone and extend a special greeting to all of our first time attenders. Please raise your hand so we can properly thank you for joining us. The C.A.R.E. Team will give you a welcome packet which has some information about our church as well as a contact sheet. You only need to fill out the information you are comfortable sharing. The most important thing on there is your prayer requests. A C.A.R.E. Team member will pick up your sheet, pray for your specific requests, and thank the Lord for your attendance. The music is followed by a clear, helpful, powerful message by our Senior Pastor, Dr. John D. Smith. The service is about an hour in length. You are also welcome to join any of our Sunday school classes which begin at 9:30am. These classes are divided by age group and will allow you to have an opportunity to meet some of our members, fellowship, and enjoy a Bible lesson.
What about my Children?
We have an excellent nursery staff that has been through required child-care training. They will care for your child during the service so that you can enjoy the message. You will be given a number which will appear on our child monitoring system (visible from the main sanctuary) should your child need you for any reason. Our 2 and 3 year old class, Little B’s, is also equipped with the child monitoring system. This class will offer your child play time, a snack, and an enjoyable Bible lesson from one of our caring teachers. These classes are available during each of our main services – Sunday morning, Sunday evening and Wednesday night prayer meeting. There is something for children of every age during Sunday School and AWANA Clubs on Wednesdays. We would love to have your children join us in any of these exciting classes! We also have Sunday Night Kids’ Club for 4 year olds through 2nd Grade.
What about my Teens?
Our youth group, 9th-12th grade, meets on Tuesdays at 6:30pm for Terrific Tuesday which involves a time of fellowship, games, Bible study, verse memorization, and a message from the Word of God. Once a month the teens enjoy “Tasty Terrific Tuesday” where the service is followed by food and fellowship in our activity building. The teens meet on a separate night of the week so that they can also participate in our Wednesday night prayer meeting. Many times the youth ensemble will sing, a teen will play the piano or sing a special song, and the young men will help take up the offering. We encourage our teens to get involved and serve God with their talents. 6th-8th Graders are part of the 24/7 Ministries which meets on Wednesday evenings at 7pm during prayer meeting in conjunction with the AWANA Program for younger children.
How should I dress?
There is no dress code at Teays Valley Baptist for members or guests. Our ministry leaders and many of our church family dress in more traditional “Sunday” dress; however, our main goal is for you to feel welcome on your visit here at TVBC!
